nr: 365 / 1963 Porsche 356C
The idea for the type 356 was born before WW II. Dr.Porsche had in mind a Volkswagen (Beetle) like type sports car, withan air cooled 1.5L engine, which was to be placed in the rear. because the Nazi's stopped the production, the idea was put on the shelves. After father, son and daughter were re-united in 1947, it seemed a market was found for an advanced new sports car. In 1948 they introduced the 356/1, as an experimental model, after which, of the 356/2 4 units were produced the same year. After several alterations, the 356 1500 (1956), the 356B and eventually the 356C, the last in this phenomenal series followed. This here offered car, the 1600C, with 75HP, was produced in 1963 as the 1964 year model. New were the disc brakes on all 4 wheels, and the wheel caps. The flowing lines form a harmonious whole, the attribute of a good design.
